With the proliferation of GPS (Global Positioning System) units due to falling prices and easy availability I thought it would be helpful to emergency management personal and others to list some landmarks around Florida. I have entered and verified these through my travels. However, GPS has a built in error courtesy of the U.S. Department of Defense. The error could be as much as 300 feet. Please take this in to concideration when useing these readings, especially when useing the altitude / elevation * numbers.

For obvious reasons, most of these landmarks are in Palm Beach County (where I live). There are a number, though, that should be useful to people traveling elsewhere. If you have a GPS unit and you have taken landmark reading, please feel free to share. Send them to me useing the e-mail address at the bottom.

Tip; If you're the type that likes to fly and not just be a passenger (airplanes) you probably already know whis one ... A number of companies and our U. S. Government publish airport information in many different forms. Some of these airport directories are as little as $10. They can be had at general avaiation terminals and small airports. Everyone (I have seen) lists the airport identifier (a 3 or 4 letter code), name of the airport (A/P for short) and the Latitude and Longitude ... along with other interesting information like runways and frequencies.
