Proclamation
WHEREAS, Chuck Ritchie has been the driving force behind amateur radio emergency communications in South Palm Beach County for nearly twenty-five years; and
WHEREAS, As a Boca Raton resident and volunteer in the Fire-Rescue Services Department, Mr. Ritchie has spent an enormous amount of personal time assuring that the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) in an integral part of the City's emergency planning process; and
WHEREAS, He has been instrumental in the design and set-up of the new emergency communications room, which is part of the City's new Emergency Operations Center; and
WHEREAS, Boca Raton has been blessed with citizens who have the spirit of volunteerism and who truly care by giving freely of their time, energy and abilities; and
WHEREAS, Because of Mr. Ritchie's past commitment and continuing interest in the City's emergency communications capabilities, we would like to dedicate the new emergency communications room in his honor; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carol G. Hanson, Mayor of the City of Boca Raton do hereby proclaim July 13, 1999, as
CHUCK RITCHIE DAY
In Boca Raton and we urge all citizens to join me in recognizing this great service.
